Church Bookings and Services

Valerie and Andrew are always pleased to be invited to take services at Churches / Spiritualist Groups. It is something they have done for many years, serving many churches and centres in North East England, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
It still feels an honour to work on the platform. We remember how uplifting and life-changing it is to get real proof that "there is more to life than this". You can find a list of our current bookings below.

What happens at a Church Service?

If you have not been to a service in a spiritualist church or group, you may wonder what happens and you may even feel wary of them. There is nothing to be afraid of. During a normal service you sit in rows and the lights stay on! A member of the church will "chair" the service and one or more mediums will be the guest speaker, who may deliver a short address (philosophy) and will relay messages to people from their loved ones in Spirit.

The chairperson leads the order of service, making announcements, introducing the speaker(s) and leading the service from section to section. A typical order of service is set out below:

The chairperson welcomes the congregation and introduces the speaker(s).
Opening hymn.
The speaker is asked to say an opening prayer.
The chairperson asks that we all send out healing thoughts to those who need healing, and usually reads some names from the healing book. Then we sing the healing hymn.
The chairperson asks the speaker to give the address. The speaker gives a short address or philosophy. This is usually about some aspect of Spiritualism.
The chairperson asks the speaker to give their demonstration of mediumship.
The speaker(s) then communicate with members of the congregation and their friends and loved ones in the Spirit World. Often the speaker is guided as to which person they want to talk to, but sometimes they just share some information and see who understands it before continuing with more details.
At the appropriate time, the chairperson asks the speaker to finish - we are called to time.
The chairperson offers their closing remarks, usually thanking the speaker for the service and inviting the congregation to return for future services.
Closing hymn.
The speaker is asked to say the closing prayer.
A vesper may be said or sung.

There are usually three or four hymns or songs and where they occur in the service varies.

Most churches have a collection, similar to a traditional church, but some groups, and for some special services, there is an admission charge instead.

Some churches offer free spiritual healing before or after the service.

At many churches you can have a cup of tea or coffee after the service. This can provide a good opportunity to talk about the evening and may help answer some of your questions, if appropriate. Many regular attendees and committee members are happy to answer general questions around spiritualism.

We are willing to cover services within a 30 mile / 45 minutes radius of Hartlepool. We will consider weekday and weekend services, Divine Service or Mediumship Service and will also cover cancellations if we are available.
